My research program focuses on the mechanisms of pathological cardiac remodeling and mechanical dysfunction in heart failure, especially related to
inflammation and immune activation. Diabetes is an important risk factor for the development of heart failure. Here, we are interested in the pathobiology
of diabetic (and obesity-related) cardiomyopathy, especially the role of monocyte-derived and resident macrophages in disease progression and
whether/how the metabolic dysregulation in diabetes may drive the chronic inflammatory response in heart failure.
