Diabetic patients are predisposed towards skeletal dysfunction particularly as regards fracture healing. Our laboratory focuses on the biology of the osteoclast, the unique bone resorptive cell essential to skeletal homeostasis. We have contributed to understanding the mechanisms of osteoclast differentiation and the means by which the mature cell degrades bone, the latter involving cytoskeletal organization.
