Laura Marks, MD PhD, is an Instructor in the ID division with strong translational investigation skills. She is an accomplished clinician and teacher, with special interests in caring for infectious disease in underserved populations. Her efforts have been critical for coordination and analysis of COVID-19 samples including those from people with diabetes. For reasons that are obscure, diabetes predisposes to adverse outcomes in people with COVID-19. Dr. Marks is interested in contributing to a new DRC Core directed by Dr. Jeff Henderson focused on identifying mechanisms responsible for the
infectious complications of diabetes.
